1. Is the equipment sanitized?
Yes, prior to each new rental, all equipment is cleaned and sanitized. The equipment is also inspected for safety before each rental.  We treat the equipment as if our own children were using it.

2. Is the equipment JPMA certified?
Yes, it is, and all equipment also meets all federal safety standards. We also have a direct link with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and receive bulletins any time there are product recalls. If an item that we have in stock is on that recall list, we are able to pull it from our inventory immediately.

3. How long have you been in business?
Baby's Away of South Florida is part of a national franchise. We have been in business since 1999 and Baby's Away, Inc, has been in business since 1990.

4. Do you carry liability insurance?
Baby's Away of South Florida is proud to say that we carry liability insurance for the rental of baby equipment. Due to the nature of our business, i.e. renting baby equipment, it is very expensive and extremely difficult to obtain liability coverage. However, due to the fact that we are part of the largest baby equipment rental company in the country, we were able to obtain this coverage. You should ask about this before renting from any baby equipment company; most policies do not cover the rental of baby equipment.

5. Will you install car seats?
We cannot do this for liability reasons. We leave this up to the customer. We are more than happy to provide the instruction booklet for you, should you need it. Most customers find that our car seats are easy to install.

6. Will you deliver car seats to any car rental company?   You should check with the car rental company you are renting from to see what their policy is, and whether or not they have seats of their own.  If it is okay with them, we can do it, provided we have a manager's name, telephone number and permission to leave the car seat at their location.

7. What is Florida's Child Restraint Law?
All children 5 years of age or younger must be properly restrained no matter where they are sitting in the vehicle. Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat. For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt may be used. (FL Statute 316.613). Click Here to get more information.   However, many times we are questioned on Florida law vs. other states' law regarding child safety seat requirements.  Just because Florida law allows you to go without a child safety seat after age 4, do you really want to, when so many studies have proven that it is just not safe?  We urge all of our customers to give this issue some thought; we care about your children and know their safety is as important to you as it is to us!

8. Is the equipment new?
All of our equipment is either new or in excellent condition (gently used). We pride ourselves on the quality and cleanliness of our merchandise. Each item is thoroughly inspected before each rental.

9. What if I need to cancel?
We understand that plans change and if you need to cancel with at least one week notice, you will not be charged anything. If, however, the cancellation is with in one week of your reservation, you will be charged the full rental. That being said, we do understand that emergencies happen and we will work with you to the best of our ability.  Should you need to change or cancel your order, please contact us at (877)835-BABY(2229).

10. I am renting my car seat from the car rental agency, is that ok?
Be sure to ask what type of seat it is. Some companies use VINYL car seats which are awfully hot in Florida. Most companies' car seats are not rear facing.

11. The hotel has a crib for me, what should I ask?
Make ABSOLUTELY sure that it is a FULL SIZE crib. A LOT of hotels tell you that it is a crib, but it really is a portacrib (used for children under 6 mos) or a pack-n-play. Ask if it is wood or metal, the metal ones are generally not the most pleasant cribs. Ask if the mattress is a full thickness (5 inch) not the thinner one (3 inches). Most hotels use the thin mattresses and they just are not very comfortable.  Also be aware of hotels using ADULT-SIZED sheets for the cribs.  This is extremely unsafe, and should be avoided as it poses a strangulation hazard for babies.  If they do not offer crib sheets, it is unsafe to use that crib!
